Hi, my name is Ricky, and I created and run AuthentRick Counselling.

I offer in-person sessions in Stevenage and online or telephone sessions across the UK. I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), this means I am obligated and committed to following their ethical framework.

Past roles include working for Mind in Mid Herts and Walk the Walk Family Support, as well as the Road Victims Trust, where I continue to work alongside here. I work as a person-centred counsellor, where I aim to create a space for you to feel understood, a warm connection and free of judgement, while reflecting on what is important to YOU.

I am here to explore your world alongside you from your point of view and lived experience. I love to watch people find their authentic selves as we work together, and the therapeutic relationship grows. We can bring in somatic techniques and mindfulness to help you become more aware of your body and take a more holistic approach to what may benefit you as an individual.

Level 2 certificate in counselling skills

Level 3 certificate in counselling studies

Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling

Your individuality and authenticity is at the forefront of everything our work together will be based on. You will decide what comes up from your past, present or future and at what pace you decide to explore and reflect on these issues.

I will explore this from your point of view, taking your lived experiences in mind. Trauma is often at the heart of how we experience our lives, including how we relate with others and the world.
Trauma teaches us to hide ourselves to avoid danger, we often find ourselves asking questions such as Who am I? or Can I find myself again? Healing involves being authentically and unapologetically you. Our relationship can help you find the person who has always been there, but that life has made feel unworthy or unheard, let’s begin the journey of acceptance and authenticity, because YOU are worth it. Trauma is often stored in our bodies and can be felt in different ways physiologically and come out through different triggers.
We can use our sessions to increase your bodily awareness, mindfulness and breathing techniques to help you in sessions and your everyday life.
